About this campaign

My name is Evan. I'm doing this campaign to raise money for my Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis team. Take Steps is an event run by the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America. All monies raised will go directly to CCFA.
"  Take Steps for Crohn's and Colitis is a family friendly community walk dedicated to raising mission critical funds and awareness for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). In the past 6 years, we have raised almost $40 million in the search for cures for these debilitating digestive diseases."

I've lived with IBD all my life but for the past few years its become a bigger fight for me. Because of lack of information I spent years being misdiagnosed and by the time I was correctly diagnosed Crohn's had a good grip on my digestive tract. I always say that I may have Crohn's but it will never have me. Currently I'm recovering from brain and spine surgery from Chiari Malformation and cranial cervical instability and I can't do my usual fund-raising events, so I need your help. I came up with "Endurance Leads To Glory" after a soccer injury at the age of 9 left me wheelchair bound for months. To me it meant if I could endure the surgeries I needed to get back on my feet then I'd reach the glory of getting back to the game I love. Now its more about living each day focused on winning whatever battle I need to face in order to live my dreams. I found out last week my gastrologist thinks its time to go with a gastric feeding tube. It may sound extreme but to me its almost a relief. As far back as I can remember food has caused me pain. It made me the kid parents didn't want at birthday parties because I never ate away from home. That made the adults uncomfortable so by the time I was 7 years old I was no longer invited to birthday parties. Parents always worried I had some stomach bug even though my parents told them I just had a nervous stomach or food sensitivity or whatever my doctors were calling it at the time so they stopped letting their kids play at my home. Every day of my life I've dealt with stomach pain and nausea to some degree. In many ways its almost normal now. That is until the past 8 months when its been non stop but honestly this isn't about me. Seeing the support group I attend for kids with IBD growing so fast isn't right. Little kids shouldn't have to deal with colonoscopies or all the tests and treatments that go with IBD. I don't want them losing their childhood because of this , so I'm fighting to help fund research. I believe we can and will cure IBD someday. We just need help. Please support my campaign and help me help others in the battle against IBD.
