About this campaign

The U.S. Alliance to End the Hitting of Children is a non-profit that brings together individuals, groups, and organizations to create a unified voice calling for, and working toward, the end of all forms of physical and emotional punishment against children, especially in schools and homes.

Across the U.S. and around the world, there are individuals and groups committed to ending corporal punishment of children. In the U.S., campaigns to end the practice began as early as the 1820s. More recently, the Center for Effective Discipline in 1987 began addressing the problem and coordinated the efforts of the National Coalition to Abolish Corporal Punishment in Schools (NCACPS) and End Physical Punishment of Children (EPOCH-USA). Other groups in the U.S. currently active to end the practice such as Parents and Teachers against Violence in Education (PTAVE), StopSpanking.org, NeverHitaChild.org, People Opposed to Paddling Students (POPS), and The Hitting Stops Here.

A child's deserves the same right not to be hit that an adult does.

Awareness and education is everyone's means of understanding why children should have equal or even more protection against assault and battery than adults have!

There are much healthier, far more effective, respectful, non-adversarial ways to discipline children. People need to know the research about the detrimental impact of hitting - and learn alternatives.

I support this campaign because I know the Alliance can't expand its work without more funding.
