Elijah was born healthy and developed normally to meet all his milestones until he was 2 years old when he started having seizures. When he started preschool at 4 years old he was a little behind but otherwise healthy. He got sick that Christmas and it was a quick downhill decline, a year full of medications, tests, and worry until we found out November 2011 that he had Batten Disease. Elijah can no longer walk, talk, eat by mouth, or sit up on his own. He often has respiratory problems and needs constant care.
