WHY DOODLES ARE OUR ZEN AND WHAT THEY TEACH US ABOUT LIFE
As humans, our life teachers come in many forms, shapes and size. Sometimes they come with four legs and fur….or fleece…. or wool.... Doodle lovers and those of us who rescue and/or share our lives with these incredible little beings will tell you, that Doodles can be phenomenal spiritual teachers...... Their gentle wisdom, simply requires our openness, quiet attention and mindfulness to appreciate.
Our beloved canine companions teach us about kindness, gratitude, love, empathy and compassion; about being present in the moment... about patience, forgiveness and joyfulness.... As Doodle rescuers, there isn't a day that goes by when we aren't in awe of these dogs, their resilience and their capacity for unconditional love and devotion in spite of their suffering. Their willingness to forgive those who have caused them harm, some, even after experiencing the pain of loss, physical abuse, abandonment and often, unspeakable cruelty at the hands of humans, is what inspires us to carry on.
To us, Doodles and dogs in general, are living, breathing buddhas and bodhisattvas that transcend the purest of zen qualities; their very "doodliness" exemplifies true "Buddha-nature." ....
It's no wonder that "dog" spelled backward is “God.”
