Vendedy aims to create the first online marketfor street artisans of emerging markets. We provide street artisans from rural slums and villages, direct access to the global consumer market via phone app technology. We’ve created one place for anything related to street artisan work where consumers can buy unique items of the real world and where artisans can gain global visibility that alleviates them out of poverty. Join the movement. #DisrupTheNorm
When you purchase the shirt, wear it and take a picture. We will post pictures on our social media sitesof our #DisrupTheNorm supporters from all over the world.

Why I do it? I am the daughter of a long line of female street vendors. My great grandmother sold candies and sweets in her village, my grandmother sold cooked food in the capital and my mother was the first person in her family to venture to NYC to street vend for a living. Guelma Emile (my mother) started her business supporting street vendors with one luggage and a dream. She brought two luggage worth of products from a street artisan in Port au Prince and flew back to Columbus Circle Manhattan, laid out the items on a blanket and sold out within a couple hours. She spent the next decade selling Haitian street art in local flea markets. Like the women before her, she was supporting her whole family on the sales of her street sales. The only difference between Guelma and the pioneers before her was that her success supported her family and the families of 8 street artisans back in Port-au-Prince Haiti. By selling their crafts in New York, she provided a sustained income stream for their work. On December 1998, her idea found a permanent home at the Jamaica Collesseum mall. The business was short lived because it closed its doors in 2010, the year the earthquake shook Haiti to its knees. The business is gone but the hope it provided is still alive. Today we digitized the business model and connect street vendors across Latin America and Africa to the global consumer market. Check out our updates at:http://vendedy.com/
