About this campaign

On December 21, 1914,Aroostook County Sheriff's Deputy Harold C Hillman, 32, left his residence in Island Falls to return some mistakenly seized liquor. He was never seen again. 100 years later, he has NOT BEEN FORGOTTEN!

Deputy Harold C Hillman, an Aroostook County Sheriff's Deputy, disappeared in the line of duty on December 21, 1914 after leaving his residence in Island Falls to return mistakenly seized liquor. He told his wife, Mary S Hillman, that he would return in 15 minutes. Regretfully, he was never seen again. A local outlaw was taken into custody and held accused of Deputy Hillman's murder. However, he was released when no trace of the deputy could be found. He was a free man.

hillmanjpgDeputy Hillman's 'line of duty' loss has been recognized by the Maine Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial located in Augusta. His name is etched in granite with honoralong with all the fallen heroes of Maine law enforcement. However, his loss has never been recognized by the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial in Washington, DC. Recently, an application for admission to the Memorial was denied by the NLEOMF.

Please help us honor his loss by wearing this memorial shirt on May 13th, 2015, the night of the National Candlelight Vigil held in honor of fallen police officersin Washington, DC. Although his name will not be listed as one of the fallen during the reading of the "Honor Roll" that night, we will honor his memory and sacrifice from Maine to Washington, DC. A hero lost is NEVER FORGOTTEN.

(All funds raised in the sale of this t-shirt will be donated to the Police Unity Tour- Chapter 10 in memory of Deputy Hillman. The PUT is largest single benefactor of the NLEOMF and Museum.)
