Help Us Save Delanie's life

In a shelter that is beyond full, dogs like Delanie don't have much of a chance of being adopted. Delanie has obviously had a less than perfect life; she is about 5 years old, not spayed, had puppies, suffered from either an embedded collar or a heavy chain around her neck and is heart worm positive. Shelters don't have the money or the space to keep a dog like Delanie while undergoing treatment for heart worm so sadly, these dogs are put to sleep very quickly. The Joshua Fund was sent a request to see if we could save this girl. Our last three rescues depleted our "nest egg" of donations and we weren't ready to take on another dog. We're realistic... you can't spend what you don't have. We also knew that this girl wouldn't have any more time on this earth if we didn't speak up for her. Within two hours of the initial request, Delanie set her paws out of the shelter door and on her way to a new life. This rescue will be very costly and since we're begging for your help once again, we want you to know where your money will go. Heart worm treatment lasts 60 days until the dog is declared healthy & heart worm free. The cost for that is $650. Boarding Delanie at the Vet's office is $10 per day. We'd like to keep her at the Vet where it is quiet and she will be well cared for. That's $600. Getting her spayed and all the vaccinations she needs costs $150. The transport from TN (this is by the folks we always use since they are very careful with the dogs and have the most direct route North) is $150. We've built in an extra $50 for incidentals like some toys or a special blanket of her own. If that isn't needed, the extra money will go toward the next dog we rescue.
