About this campaign

About Clyde - Clyde Thomas graduated from West Liberty State College (WLSC), now West Liberty University, in 1971 following his playing career in professional football, playing for the CFL Wheeling Ironmen and the NFL Philadelphia Eagles. He went on to become a successful businessman and was a 20-year member of the Wheeling City Council, where he also served as vice mayor through his dedication to the community.He also served as a faculty member at WLSCin the School of Business Administration, member of WLSCBoard of Governors, and most importantly he was a loving and caring husband and father. Clyde Thomas exemplified what it meant to be a friend, colleague, and leader, respected by all. It is because of his dedication to the community that family and friends established the Clyde Thomas Scholarship Fund.

Enduring a Lasting Legacy - Despite the University's best efforts to contain cost, tuition and fees remain obstacles to higher education. The purpose of this newly formed fund is to offer the needed financial assistance to high school graduates from West Virginia or Ohio, who attend West Liberty University, in an effort to overcome those obstacles and achieve the dream of obtaining a top University education. To ensure the legacy of Clyde Thomas continues and provide for future community leaders to get the start that they need through a top-quality education, please support the Clyde Thomas Scholarship Fund.
