About this campaign

The Bountiful Chalk Art Festival is more than just an outdoor art show. It is a life changing experience! This show was started in 2006 as a way to help youth in custody change their lives through art. Since that time the Joy Foundationhas been able to expand to other youth as well. Our artists come from every type of background and through their art, are able to find joy, acceptance and a connectedness with others. The impact has been amazing.http://https//www.kickstarter.com/projects/thejoyfoundation/bountiful-chalk-art-festival-magic-on-the-sidewalk?ref=nav_search

Last year in 2014 over 20,000 visitors walked the streets of Bountiful and enjoyed this entertaining event. This year we expect an even larger turnout. Nearly 100 artists will be sharing their talents with us. That is a lot of chalk! To help you understand how important your participation is here are a few examples.

The Young Artist: "Alone...un-liked...under estimated Unaware...Unwanted... A shadow in the background I am a Loner, a Nobody! I am socially different, an outcast that doesn't fit in with the crowd, I am desperate for someone to say hello to me, for someone to smile back at me, for someone to talk to... unacknowledged..." This was written by a 15 year old girl in a classroom...in detention! We brought her to the Chalk Festival...sat her down by a professional artist..taught her that she had worth. That is what we do. We put our artistic arms around those who need us, and help them understand they have worth. The Artist: "I come to the chalk art festival to create a momentary expression. It doesn't bother me that my art may only last for the weekend or maybe less if we have rain. What is important is that I have given a momentary glimps into my emotion and the way I see the world, and perhaps inspired someone else along the way." The Family: "We come to the art festival each year to watch the excitement in our children's eyes. Seeing them as their imaginations open to worlds unknown and to possibilities for their future. I'll never forget the the first time we came and one of our kids said, I stand here on this street and feel like I am in a storybook. I didn't know there were places like this." The festival is magic for all involved. We hope you will purchase a shirt sowe can continue to sponsor this event to year after year.

Thank you!
