As most of you may already know she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She went in for her FIRST SURGERY last Friday. She was under the impression they would do a full body scan BEFORE surgery to find out IF it has spread to other places of her body. That information was wrong and prolly lost translation because of the emotions involved. They filled the right breast with t...he dye NOT her entire body. OK so we are at stage 3. When the dr came out of surgery he told us it was a lot worse then he had expected. In his own words "I'm going to be honest and just let you know that it is way worse than I expected it to be." I asked about the full body scan which was THEN he explained to me that they couldn't do a full body scan until he removed her breast because the dye would have only concentrated in her breast only. He needed to get that out first and foremost. She goes back to the dr this THURSDAY. He will then schedule the full body scan to see if it has traveled to other areas of her body. IF it has spread, then that would upgrade her cancer to stage four which is terminal. THAT being said we all know that doctors have been wrong before and they can be wrong again. He said this is a very aggressive cancer that he WILL be hitting full force with chemo, radiation and hormone therapy immediately. Again, she wont know until Thursday what date that is going to start.
