Hello! My name is Cam. I'm 22 years old, I'm severely disabled and I live in California with my family. Before I started taking medical cannabis, I was suffering with 240 seizures a month (5-8 per day). We tried 15 pharmaceutical anti-seizure medications before giving cannabis a try. Here we are, one year later, and cannabis has performed miracles in my body. It healed my eye site, I'm aware and engaging with everyone around me, I'm less agitated, and my liver has started healing. Now I go days without any seizures.

My body is still addicted to my anti-seizure pharmaceutical medications. My cannabis tincture goes in through my feeding tube and helps control my seizures as well as ween me off of the pharmaceutical medications. This weening process must go slowly and will take about 5 years. The breakthrough seizures I'm having are likely due to the fact that I'm still on the anti-seizure medications ( Did you know these medications can CAUSE MORE seizures?) But the good news is they are few and far between and minor in comparison to the seizures I was having before.

The pharmaceutical anti-seizure medications are failing. So many children, adults and elderly are suffering with their quality of life robbed from them... but we have a solution.

Cannabis studies are proving this plant controls seizures and many other ailmentsthrough our body's Endocannabinoid System (a comprehensive system of biochemical modulators that maintain homeostasis in all body systems including the central and peripheral nervous systems, all organ systems, somatic tissues, and all metabolic biochemical systems, including the immune system). This plant heals so much more than epilepsy.

Like most epileptic patients, I require a high CBD strain with little to no THC, (specifically a 20:1 ratio). If the amount of THC is higher, it clashes with the anti-seizure medications in my body and causes bad reactions because they run on the same channel. This is why it's crucial I receive organic cannabis, the right strain, and correct dosing. Although, in the event I'm having seizure, I require a high dose of THC to pull me out of it. A bit strange, right? What the Endocannabinoid system does is so complex, it's imperative the legalization process focus on WHOLE PLANT medicine. Because simply, the plant needs all of it's ingredients to do it's job correctly (This is also known as the entourage effect).

My herbalist helps my family track, monitor and dose correctly and we are very fortunate to have a rare rich CBD strain called ACDC, but the supply is extremely limited. We need more compassionate growers to come forward and help spread these plants across the United States so more patients can benefit from their medicinal effect. Currently, there is a plethora of strains with a high content of THC, which is awesome for some patients…. but not necessarily those with epilepsy.

1 in 26 people will develop epilepsy sometime in their life, and every year, 1 out of 100 epileptic patients will DIE from their seizures. Recently, we've watched a lot of our sweet friends die waiting for their cannabis medicine. This is WRONG!
