About this campaign

This campaign is to raise 1st round funds to establish a Nationwide organization that helps rid the torture of dogs left on chains outside all day by helping to provide funding and a network of local contractors that build secure fences or repair old ones to house the dogs at reduced rates.

Shirts will be delivered approximately 2 weeks after the close date.

Hey...if you chimed in on this campaign...your a dog lover like me. All of them. Let's face it though if you have a dog or dogs they are part of the family. Everybody has a story of a great thing their trusty companion did for the family that was extraordinary . I've seen one of our Black Labs nudge my liitle one away from a snake personally. Bad day at work...there they are wagging their tail when they see you........ Yes, they are truly great.

We have been fortunate in the past of being able to have our dogs in the home and when not in the home there has been adequate secure fencing to keep them out of harms way, preventing them from roaming, getting lost, run over, or picked up by animal control or taken off by someone. We recently moved to a home that had a shoddy backyard fence, I thought...what do people do that couldn't afford it. Be it low income or elderly, etc... Unfortunately one solution is to simply put the dog on a chain.

The trouble with this is that it soon becomes the norm and not just every now and then. Dogs have hanged themselves, bled to death or broken bones to escape the confinement. The chain knocks over their water, food.....it gets wound up and tangled. It's a bad, bad, bad thing. It also seems to break the spirt of the dog, so severe mental harm can come from this also. Don't do a image search for dog, chained, outside and not expect to get a knot in your throat. It can be gruesome....and there are no dog smiles on any dog faces let me tell you.

So what we want to do is raise some money to try this experiment out. Actively search out dogs in this sort of bondage...offer to the owner that we can help build a secure fence if they in return get rid of the chains. We can also get local vet offices involved. We won't be able to save all dogs from chain bondage or from getting loose from a shoddy fence but we can help some. In some cases it may be as simple as a new gate latch and a few board repairs or even burying simple hardware cloth around the perimeter to prevent a dig out. Nope, won't be for everyone, won't help every dog.......but it could help some...and that's what matters. Everybody just doing something.
