About this campaign

I want to start a park monitor service in the city of Brockton, Massachusettsas a way of providing a piece of mind to the residents that when they take their child(ren) to the park they can feel safe when doing so. The reason is to bring the parks back to being a social gathering point for all residents of Brockton. The service would be staffed mostly with volunteers who would receive first aid training from the American Red Crossif they would be interested in helping out with the service, but also volunteers would also be trained in conflict resolution to be able to deescalate a sitution so the Brockton Police Departmentdoesn't have to be called out to the area. Mayor Bill Carpentertalks about trying to make the parks safer and the same goes for Jacob L. Tagger Jr. for Mayorboth of whom want to make the city safe. Under the Park Monitor Service that could happen and the city wouldn't have to spend much money as it would be funded by donations from the public and residents of the city. Each park in the city will get a small booth that would house medical supplies and sports equipment like Basketballs, Soccer balls, etc... They would also have bottles of water in the summer which would be free for anyone who asks for one. There would be only one paid position which is the person who sits in the booth the people who walk around the park would be local volunteers who live near the park so most of the people who visit the park would know them and would be more likely to ask for help and feel safe.

The reason I want to start this service is because I live in a city where at a local park there was huge fight and a person died from a stab wound. So I want to start this as a way to make people feel safer in the parks and playgrounds around the city of Brockton, Massachusetts as well as give them piece of mind that if their child(ren) are at the park there are people there who are looking out for the safety of everyone at the park especially the children playing there each volunteer would be first aid trained and carry a small bag with first aid supplies in it and there will be a booth that has more first aid supplies and sports equipment for people to use while they're at the park. The service would have a director that would report to the city mayor and police chief, but the service itself would be privately funded by the public through donations from websites like this one or they could give a donation to the city for the service which would be kept in a separate account just for the park monitor service. This is the only way a city gets better by the community coming together and doing something about the problems facing their city today this may be an ambitious project, but I believe that the true meaning of community is people getting together to fix their city instead of waiting on the government to do something.
