About this campaign

The brAvery run was created to raise awareness for SMA. To include as many people as possible we have created a virtual run so people can participate from anywhere in the United States. SMA is the number one genetic killer of infants under the age of two. Researchers are getting closer and closer everyday to finding a cure, every donation helps!

SMA is the number one genetic killer of infants under the age of two. SMA is an autosomal recessive trait (meaning both parents must be carriers of the defective gene in order for their child to be affected). It is estimated that 1 in 40 people are carriers for the SMA trait.

The brAvery run began in 2012 and has donated over $10K toward SMA research by hosting a 5k event in Fredericksburg, TX, along with a virtual event. The Virtual brAvery run allows supporters to join our fund raiser, without having to travel to our local race. Virtual runners are encouraged to run in their neighborhoods, on a running trail or in another running event with their brAvery run shirts on to raise SMA awareness.

Researchers are getting closer and closer everyday to finding a cure for SMA. We appreciate your support.
