Booker Needs New Knees!

Booker was dropped off at a vets office when a woman found him wondering the streets of Chester.  The vet asked if ARF could possibly find a foster home for Booker, so he would not have to be turned into the local shelter.  Well one of our wonderful foster moms came forward immediately for Booker.  Booker has been living the life of luxury in his foster home for a few weeks now.  Unfortunately, Booker's foster mom noticed that Booker seemed to have mobility issues.  Upon further examination, the vet determined that Booker needed to have surgery to repair bi-lateral luxating patellas.  Due to his age and size and the deplorable condition of his knees, the vet recommended Booker see a vet who specializes in orthopedic surgery.  Booker saw the orthopedic surgeon who determined that Booker indeed needed surgery to repair his bi-lateral luxating patellas, but he also determined that Booker's one knee was in such bad condition that the only way to correct the knee so Booker can walk correctly is to break the knee cap and reset it with a metal plate.  Without the two surgeries Booker will only be able to walk for a few more years at most, and will become riddled with debilitating pain.  ARF ensures that all of the animals within its care receive the medical attention that they need, but we could use your help!  Due to the nature of Booker's surgery and his size and age, the surgery is estimated to cost approximately $4,500.  Please help us raise funds so Booker can live out the rest of his life pain free.
