About this campaign

Hello, my name is Jay. In that you are reading this, someone you know or something you saw invited you to come here -- before I go on, I truly cannot thank you enough for making it this far. It would mean the world to me - to us - if you would continue reading.

I am here to find help for my girlfriend, whose name (as you might have gathered) is Destiny. Because the need for this campaign is a medical one, naturally you could expect this help to come in monetary form; although money plays a vital role in getting her the care that she needs, money is not the only factor. I hope in addition to raise an equal amount of emotional support for Destiny, and for others who are also affected by Lyme, as their conditions have tried them in ways that make faith seem like another fleeting memory. In exchange for your consideration, you will receive a neat and professional design outfitted to quality hand-picked fibers, along with the satisfaction of knowing that you helped make a big difference in someone's life.

All of the funds raised from this campaign will go towards paying for medical, travel and insurance expenses that are due to Lyme.

Lyme disease is serious business. I knew close to nothing about it before I met Destiny earlier this Spring, but how much I learned so quickly. Basically, Lyme is a bacterial infection caused by the bite of a deer tick. It has been known to permeate any organ in the body, not excluding muscles, joints, the nervous system, brain or heart (and in Destiny's case, all of which) -  notorious for mimicking the symptoms of countless other diseases. If you would like to know more, there are plenty of handy resources on the web.

Today, most modern practices won't acknowledge the existence of chronic Lyme disease, and instead proceed to write it off as Post-Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome, which has become a topic of great controversy in and of itself. This creates obvious dilemmas in terms of finding treatment, let alone convincing insurance to pitch in. These circumstances have granted Destiny and her family a seemingly insurmountable slew of medical bills along with a budding hesitation to accrue any more, and have left Destiny with an unpredictable condition that can hardly dream of reaping the benefits of full-time employment.

I am here because I want Destiny to see specialists without having to worry about how she will pay the astronomic price-tag. I am here because I want her to be prepared for her next big struggle, whenever that may be. I am here because I believe that, even if she may never recover, she can be better. I am here to ask you to believe in her, too.

Thank you so much for reading. Please consider contributing to our cause and/or sharing it with your friends -- even if you can't afford to buy a shirt, we would love to hear from you. Leave us a comment and let us know you care!
