About this campaign

Please help support the Barker's by purchasing this great shirt for only $22. All funds raised will go directly to baby Atlas' medical bills.

After being sent home by two hospitals despite contractions increasing in intensity with a diagnosis of a bladder infection, Aileen labored at home all night even calling one of the hospitals again to ask if she should come in. She took a warm bath and a few Tylenol as directed, but after a few hours the pain was so intense and so frequent they decided to go back to the hospital 45 minutes away, but it was too late. Atlas was born in the front seat of a car on Highway 58 while on their way to the hospital.

While on the phone with 911, they were told to pull off onto the next exit while they waited for an ambulance. The 911 operator instructed Blaine on how to perform CPR on the tiny baby that was still attached to Aileen, wrapped in a jacket. He was blue, cold and not breathing, but Blaine was able to keep him breathing until help came. When the ambulance arrived they started taking care of Atlas, giving him oxygen and trying to get him to breath. They then took him by ambulance to a helicopter pad to be taken to the closest hospital by helicopter. Aileen was transported to a hospital by ambulance where the doctor and nurses checked to make sure everything was okay with her. Atlas was taken straight to the NICU, where he will be for the next 2-3 months.

Baby Atlas Barker was born on March 23, 2015 at 7:39 A.M. at just 27 weeks to Aileen and Blaine Barker. At the time of birth he weighed 2lb 4oz and was 14 inches long. This campaign is to help them pay for medical costs, travel costs and any other costs associated with caring for a premature baby. You can follow Atlas' story and progress through this community facebook page.

Thank you for your time and support!

Because Blaine and Aileen Barker are an amazing young couple and have so much strength and love to help baby Atlas come home with them, but the reality of the care, until then, is overwhelming.

I'm supporting this campaign to help one of my childhood friend's enjoy her time with her newborn by at least alleviating some of the stress of medical bills.
