About this campaign

Help us raise awareness for Cerebral Palsy during the month of March for the United Cerebral Palsy of Nebraska. United Cerebral Palsy educates, advocates and provides support services to ensure a life without limits for people with a spectrum of disabilities and is crucial to children such as Averlie, a little girl who lives withthis on a day to day basis.

Averlie is a happylittle 19 month old who loves trains, Legos, and her Kitty, Lola. She also lives daily with Cerebral Palsy and a few other diagnoses due to a hypoxic event at birth known as HIE which has lead to irreversible brain damage and CP. It affects her left side more so than herright, and she struggles with many daily tasks such as holding silverware, pulling herself up to stand, and communicating her needs. Averlie receives physical therapy and occupational therapy a couple times aweekand has several specialists on her team to coordinate hertreatment. She is one of more than 750,000 citizens in the United States that have been diagnosed with it and continues to thrive despite the limitations that Cerebral Palsy has placed on her. Alot of hersuccess is due toprograms and services such as the United Cerebral Palsy of Nebraska advocates for. CP is not a diseaseso itcannot be "caught."It is a condition that has NOCURE, and causesissues such asmuscle stiffness, lack of muscle tone, total paralysis, hemiparesis, dysphagia, dystonia, tremors and a plethora of other issues. Weare fortunate thatAverlie is not currently bound to a wheel chair and will walk eventually, but that isn't the case for many otherchildren and adultsof the state of Nebraska. All of the funds generated by this fundraiser will be donated to the United Cerebral Palsy of Nebraska, which educates, advocates, and provides support services/programsto those such as Averlie, in the state of Nebraska, so that they may live a life without limits. Help us share awareness forCerebral Palsyduring National Cerebral Palsy Month and for our daughter,Averlie, by purchasing one ofteesPleasehelp us show the world that there isn't such a thing as a disability, just being differently-abled!
