Angelo G was born November 22, 2010, Near Philadelphia PA. Angelo was born with his intestines on the outside of his body, They had to be removed thus making him "Short Gut Syndrome". He under went many operations at birth to try to restore what intestines he had left. He also had a ileostomy, PUS fistula, Broviac, & a Feeding tube. When it was time for Angelo to be released the parents realized that they would not be able to correctly care for their little boy, so he was placed in foster care in Bucks country. He remained in the hospital for the first 16 months of his life till we were contacted about taking him into our care. We thought long and hard about this life altering decision and all the complications surrounding him and his needs. We decided that this sickly little boy needed a loving and caring home and that the hospital was not the right place for him. He was flown to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. We set up visitations to see the little guy not knowing what to expect. When we met him all we saw was this frail little boy that weighted no more than 16 pounds, He was hooked up to so many tubes and hoses, machines and pumps. He turned his head and look at us, then gave us the biggest and warmest smile, then reached his little arm out to us. We knew right then and there that this little boy would be in our care and would be a big part of our life.We learned his care at the hospital and eventually he was released to us. Since then he has under went many more surgeries including intestine blockages, blood transfusions, and the reversal of the ileostomy, to name just a few. We now have monthly doctor visits to Children s hospital in Pittsburgh to the I-care Clinic and routine follow up appointments. The hospital is very pleased with the progress of his care and is now a STATUS 1 on the transplant list for intestines and liver. In August 2014 we were granted legal guardianship of our little man. Today, Angelo is 4 years old, 38 inches tall, and 32.lbs still connected to his I.V.s for 16 hours a day butfor the most part he isa happy growing littleboy.IMG_20140921_162849jpg
