About this campaign

My brother, Andy, has recently been diagnosed with testicular cancer. This comes as a hard hit to our family. He is a very special boy in more than 1 way! In efforts to make this horrible situation a little easier on Andy we wanted to raise funds.

andy track 2012 019JPGRecently we have learned that the ugly disease known as cancer has affected the body of my brother. Andy is a 28 year old healthy and active boy! Mental impairments have never stood in the way of this Lego building fanatic! He is a great bike rider, although he never learned to stop without using his feet (ruining tons of brand new shoes!) Andy loves writing little stories for his Lego's to act out. And have I mentioned, Legos!! I have never known a person to have more Legos than him! He is content for days with a pack of batteries, a container of Legos, and a headlamp. Not only is Andy the best builder in town, he can run! He is an athlete for NEDSRA and last year had the honor to be a torch bearer in his Spring/Summer track meet. I can still remember my mother, sister and I jogging backward on the inside of the track snapping tons of pictures. Tears filled our eyes as the announcer said wonderful things about Andy. She even added "Andy never has a meet that his mother and sisters aren't near cheering him on!" Isn't that the truth. February 5th, 2014 Andy had surgery to remove a large mass of cancer and wouldn't you know all three of us with smiles on our faces despite the fears we had, high fiving and praying for him! He has never needed this help like he does now. At the moment we haven't yet learned the aggressiveness of treatment for him to undergo, but we all know the financial burden that will soon follow. Our family knows that with his disability comes with both good and bad in this situation. The good being that he doesn't fully understand the facts lying before him, bad being that no matter how strong a person cancer can bring you down. We are determined to kick this cancer right in the nuts! Right where it started is right where it will end! Prayers and Love are always accepted!

UPDATE: Andy has gone to the doctor for his follow up. Andy has 4 different types of cancer cells in the pelvic region. The Urologist has discussed a method to rid Andy of this horrible disease we call the "Big C" Andy will be undergoing both Radiation and Chemo in the very near future. Starting next week will be heading to Oncology appointments and making arrangements for the treatment of Andy. I thank you all in advance for this support and love. Andy is so pumped to kick this ugly disease back in the balls!! With one more day for this campaign to be open we wish that you can spread the word and help us reach our goal to help out my big brother. Andy is the world to me and as I have spoken with many of our friends and family I have realized that no matter what their struggles they have opened up their hearts to my awesome brother! Our family loves you and we will continue to strive thru this together as one big family!!! Thank you all.
