Amelia's Angels Great Strides 2014

When our beautiful daughter Amelia was 6 days old she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis.  Cystic Fibrosis Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.  In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond.  Every day Amelia must endure countless medications and treatments in order to fight this progressive disease in which there is no cure.  Every year since Amelia was born we have created a Great Strides team in her honor.  Great Strides is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest national fundraising event. Each year, more than 125,000 people participate in hundreds of walks across the country to raise funds for cystic fibrosis research and drug development.  All proceeds raised by the sale of these shirts will go to Amelia's Angels Great Strides team and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  Please consider buying a shirt and helping us find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
