About this campaign

Amberley is a sweet 16 year old girl with the health problems of an 80 year old, as her doctors put it.

Only five years ago, Amberley was a normal, athletic teenager. She did many things, such as swimming, dancing, volleyball, and gymnastics. When she was 12 years old, she began experiencing severe joint pain, and eventually her joints began dislocating. At first, it was only her major joints, mainly her shoulders. Soon after, she had extreme difficulty just keeping her shoulder in place even while standing still.
Surgery was attempted and failed, and her dislocations occurred with increasing frequency, multiple times per day; not just her shoulders, but all of her joints all over her body, even her ribs. Amberley has suffered many extremely painful conditions: herniated discs, migraines, seizures, neuropathy, and multiple repeated dislocations to all joints of her body, to name a few. After many visits to doctors across California, Amberley was diagnosed with a severe case of a rare genetic connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, or EDS. EDS is a progressive, multi-system condition with no cure. Only pain and symptom management for the rest of Amberley's life.
Now, Amberley is disabled due to her constant severe pain, continuous dislocations, damaged nervous system, and other factors. Even walking is painful and difficult. She has had to reevaluate her life, and make adjustments to relationships, routines, and aspirations. Yet, despite the difficult and seemingly hopeless situation, Amberley inspires all those who know her with her cheerful outlook and her desire to help others. She is pursuing further education, an ambitious career, and continues to develop and master one talent in particular that has not been affected as much by this terrible disease; her voice.
With hundreds of appointments each year (3-15 every week,) you can imagine the cost of maintaining her health. Expensive medications, therapists, assistive devices, wheelchairs, bracing, etc. are all needed in order to function every day. We have designed a shirt and campaign to honor Amberley's remarkable musical talents, "Amberley's Song." Continue the song, and help offsetAmberley's medical expenses, and buy a shirt today!

Note: We understand that we have many blessings, and we are thankful for what we have... and we understand that some people just can't help, and some people don't need or want to buy a shirt. Help if you want to, help if you can... if not, please know that we love you and appreciate your prayers and friendship.

Although we have never met Amberly she is still important in our life. I know how important music is as it can bring light when there is darkness. Keep singing Amberly.

I love my sweet cousin Melanie and can't imagine how hard it would be to watch my baby go through this trial. I can't help much but halt to help in some small way, especially for a singer. I know how powerful music can be to elevate and uplift.
