Allison Davis' Photography Mission Trip to Uganda

I have a wonderful opportunity to share with you! God has put it on my heart to serve others using the talents and skills He has given me. This January and February, I will be working in Uganda to document the work Thirst Relief and other organizations are doing through photography and storytelling.
   
    Thirst Relief is a wonderful organization that donates 100% of their donations to the building of water filter systems, health education and other tools to help rebuild communities. Nearly 1 billion people today, still lack access to safe, clean drinking water and more than 2 billion lack access to adequate sanitation. With nearly 1 million children dying each year due to water related illnesses, that are preventable, water is the most vital component to not only survival, but also to the development of a community.

    My goal is to raise $6,500 by December to travel, live there for 2 months to document the work Thirst Relief is doing and how they have helped communities and to provide a community in Uganda with a large water purification system. Thirst Relief does not have money for marketing, advertising and other things necessary to build awareness and help share the work they are doing around the world. I will be going to photograph families and communities who have been helped through Thirst Relief and sharing their stories to help with Thirst Relief’s fund raising, social media marketing and creating content for their website.

    We all have so much here in the United States and I know I take clean water and easy access to water for granted. I also take basic health knowledge for granted. I want to live my life in a way that is honoring to God and helpful and loving to people in the world.
