About this campaign

Help us to support Lindsey. Lindsey had a life saving double lung transplant in 2007 and with this renewed chance at life has come a plethora of medical expenses. Though Lindsey has a new lease on life, she must still receive ongoing medical care and costs such as medication, doctor's appointment copayments and hospital stays contribute to the expenses that Lindsey and her family must pay to keep her healthy. Through the aid of friends and family we have designed this shirt to support Lindsey and encourage support for Organ Donation for the thousands of people waiting on the transplant list.
For more information on Lindsey you can visit www.Wish2Breathe.com

Lindsey was born in 1982 and diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis on her first birthday. At the time Lindsey's parents were told she would be lucky to live past 12 years old. At the age of 21, Lindsey's health began to fail. She struggled for several years trying to regain her health and vitality with no success; at the age of 24, Lindsey was forced to make the difficult decision of whether or not she would pursue being listed for a life saving double lung transplant. Unfortunately the transplant was Lindsey's only hope at long-term survival.
After Christmas in December of 2006, Lindsey made the call to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida to set up her evaluation for transplant. Lindsey was officially listed for a double lung transplant in March 2007. Due to the severity of Lindsey's illness at the time she waited a short 6 weeks before receiving her "call" and getting her second chance at life.
Lindsey had an excellent recovery and received several years of excellent health. As she approached her 5th transplant anniversary, Lindsey began to have difficulty breathing and was experiencing more medical issues than she had in recent years. After several months of tests and studies it was determined that Lindsey was in chronic rejection. Chronic rejection means that Lindsey's body and immune system had begun to attack her transplanted lungs, and according to her physician there was a possibility she would need to be listed for a second double lung transplant. After several months and multiple failed treatment regimens, the transplant physicians at Mayo finally found an effective treatment for Lindsey's condition. Lindsey is now considered stable and though her lung function has drastically declined, she is thriving and continuing to pursue her dreams. Though Lindsey is able to pursue her dreams, those dreams have taken a backseat to maintaining her health. Her chronic rejection diagnosis was followed by an extremely rough year in which Lindsey was hospitalized 9 times with conditions ranging from a severe allergic reaction which led to Lindsey being consulted by the liver transplant team to a pulmonary embolism. This increase in medical issues has caused an increase in expenses.

Through the sale of these shirts we hope to raise money to assist Lindsey in paying for some of her medical bills and ongoing expenses. We would love your support and know that Lindsey and her future husband, Paul, would be truly appreciative of your consideration and support.

We know how hard it is to stay afloat when you have a medical condition. We also know that there are many many adults and children waiting for donor organs. Our prayers go out to all of them and their families.
