Wesam Keesh is quickly climbing the ranks of Young Hollywood, making
a name for himself as one to watch in 2014. With only a few short years in Los
Angeles under his belt, he has already worked alongside names such as Ron
Perlman, Mark Harmon, and director Francis Lawrence. Keesh can currently be
seen on MTV’s critically acclaimed, hit series “Awkward,” starring as the
antisocial, black sheep ‘Kyle.’ Season five premiered August 31, 2015.
A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Keesh grew up working in his parents’
restaurant. He always had a love for performing, and immersed himself in local
theatre. In 8th grade, he played the role of “Evil Eye Fleagle” in his school’s
adaptation of Lil’
Abner," and later
began touring the Tulsa area doing improv shows with his high school. Upon
graduating from the University of Tulsa, Keesh knew he had to pursue his dream
of becoming an actor, and made the move to Los Angeles.
Shortly after relocating to LA, Keesh started booking guest star
roles on hit series, including CBS’ “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “The Mentalist,” and “Touch” for FOX. His work on “NCIS” garnered the
attention of industry professionals, as Keesh portrayed an immigrant working to
secure his visa to stay in the United States. He shares, “that role was a
reminder of the struggle and determination that my parents had to go through,
in order to bring my family to the states and create a better life and future.”
In 2011, Keesh landed the role of “Kyle” on “Awkward” for MTV.
In addition to acting, Keesh is the founder of Actors
Anonymous, a podcast that
serves as a place where actors can discuss their struggles and give
encouragement to their peers. The show, currently in its second season,
features guests who have experiences the ups and downs of living as an actor in
Los Angeles. Actors Anonymous airs weekly on Sundays, on iTunes.
On the charity front, Keesh is an advocate for anti-bullying. He
also enjoys gardening on his roof, martial arts, yoga, and staying healthy. He
and his pet shrimp, Gustavo (the only shrimp to survive in the ecosphere he
purchased years ago), live in Los Angeles.
