About this campaign

Our mission is to give Emma and other kids fighting serious illness some cheer by helping with gas money, busy work for hospital stays, jammies, meals and anything else that might bring a smile to his or her face. So often we hear about other kids fighting and want to do more then pray and send a calendar. Help us spread cheer!

It could have happened to anyone but cancer chose us. In October of 2013 we noticed Emma had a developed a lazy eye. We took her to get checked out but instead of walking out with eye patches and glasses we walked out with an appointment for an MRI. Fast forward and Emma became legally blind from one of the six tumors in her brain from NF1. A biopsy of the fast growing tumor around her optic nerve revealed that Emma fell in a very small percentage of children with Neurofibromatosis to develop cancer. She began chemotherapy in August of 2014 and we go weekly to receive treatment. This will be a lifelong battle for Emma because of her NF1 diagnosis. She may beat this tumor only to have another come along in the future. We pray for a cure for NF1.

Emma has a very giving heart so with my help we did a project called Cancer Can Be where we made a stylized calendar of her and sent it to other cancer fighters for the holidays. We plan to do it again but from now until June we looked for another way to give. Over the last couple months we have acquired new friends who also fight battles. From cancer to kidney failure to infant death. We found ourselves in a predicament, how can you save someone from drowning when you are drowning too? I came up with the idea of doing a t-shirt fundraiser so we can set up an account to dive into to build support baskets. Emma's Aunt and Godmother took my idea and turned it into a beautiful design, that is Emma in the design! Now when we hear of a kid fighting we can send toys to keep them happy, coffee cards for mom, jammies so they feel at home, gas cards for family that need to travel to and from visits and meals to be delivered when they return home. Some of the funds will go to help Emma when she is hospitalized but the majority of the funds will be saved to help others and we will post our baskets of love on Emma's facebook, www.facebook.com/throughemmaseye and her blog.

Emma's full battle with cancer can be found on her blog, throughemmaseye.blogspot.com

i live in the same community as Emma and her family and also have a teenager who is fighting the cancer battle. I can't imagine how hard it is to have a young child with cancer while also raising other small children. they are truly an inspiration!
