About this campaign
Through a lot of research and answered prayers, we have found a surgery that will help Bryer. What was going to cost $112,000 and not covered by her current insurance, we found another insurance carrier that would cover all but about $10,000 of the procedure. Bryer'sdiagnoses is Cerebral Palsy, which is a very broad term that means the messages to/from the brain are interrupted. Itmakes it hard to control her muscles or purposely relax them. She has spent most of her 4 year old life fighting against tight muscles due to her diagnoses.
Bryer has spent the majority of her life asan inspiration to so many to better themselves.It's time to help her also 'Wake Up and Be Different!"She has a major, costlysurgery planned for May 13 and will travel to Texas. This surgery will help form her hip sockets, release tight tendons on the inside and back of her legs, and she will receive alcohol injections to maintain those loose muscles while she learns to use her newbody for the first time in her life.She will be under anesthesia and will literally "Wake Up and Be Different!" Help us cheer her on while you also set and reach your own goals, not to take your amazing body for granted! Wewantyou to find a way tostretch yourself for the month of May and set a goal for a way you can also Wake Up and Be Different. 1 - Set a specific, measureable goal that you can meet.
2 - Put it in writing where you will see it often - your bathroom mirror, your computer, your steering wheel
3 - Wear your t-shirt throughout May, but specifically on May 13 as Bryer goes for surgery. We would love to hear details of your goals and see pictures of you wearing your shirt! The big question is"Will this surgery help her learn to walk?" This surgery will help release her tight muscles, and then her brain will have to learn to coordinate her new body. We know she is motivated and is already doing far betterthan the doctors ever thought possible. We are giving her all the tools, therapy, and motivation to help, but ultimately it's up to her and her amazing brain to make those connections with her body. It isalways our hope that she will bemobile and we feel this surgery isthe first step in that direction. The surgery has 3 parts: 1- to form the hip socket so that her hips don't dislocate, which they will if left untreated. 2- Tendon lengthening in her heels so that she can stand flat footed instead of on her tight ballerinatoes; lengthening on the inside of her legs 3- Alcohol blocks in those same areas, as well as her arms so that she will have full range of motion. The blocks interrupt the signal to the brain to stay tight, stay tight, stay tight.
