About this campaign

Calling all family, friends and acquaintances! We are raising money to help Susan Conner with the medical and related expenses incurred from her brain cancer. A large portion of the $20 for the tee-shirt will go to Susan.

Susan is my best friend. She has been through much in the past few years. After surviving a Massive Pulmonary Embolism with three cardiac arrests in April 2009. Susan survived the MPE event with a new spirit. She made changes in her life and focused on things that were of great importance to her. Family, going back to college, changing careers, getting in better shape, and other things. She is always trying to improve herself and is a caring and loving friend. Unfortunately none of that changed what life had in store for her. One day this past December she started feeling bad, ended up in the ER, and the doctor found an agressive brain tumor. Shewas diagnosed in December 2013 with a glioblastoma multiforme. Her life was changed forever...again.She underwent surgery and radiation treatments, andis now taking additional cancer treatments.
Susan has been out of work since that day in December. She has been through her leave and FMLA, andis currently on Short Term Disability, which lasts a max of 6 months from date of disability (Dec). Susan wants to return to work but on the advice of her employer and her doctors she is filing for Long Term Disability just-in-case. In the meantime, her eligibility for paid insurance premiums by the employer has now ended. Susan and her sister Betsyare continuing Susan's premiums on their own. If Susan does not return to work, Betsy's plan is to COBRA her insurance for as long as possible and maybe move to something under the ACA. Savings are running low anddisability payments will not take care of her healthcare expenses. One major medical problem in a person's lifetime might set a person back for a while or even be devastating. Two major medical problems is definitely devastating and in more ways than just financially. Susan has a great outlook and tries to see the glass half full instead of half empty. Life can be a daily struggle when you are accustomed to living a regular active life, and now cannot drive, work and are tired much of the time. Thank you for continuing your thoughts, prayers and support.

Having a granddaughter recently diagnosed with leukemia makes me keenly aware of the struggles faced by anyone with any type of cancer. May God be your daily strength.
