Steppin For The Cure Fundraiser

When I was 4 years old, I lost my mom to Breast Cancer. My mom was 33 years old when she died from this terrible disease. I was too young to really understand the power in this disease and how it would affect my life as I got older. As I got older and realized how this disease can affect not only the person who is struggling with fighting it, It also affect the family. It affects them financially, emotionally and mentally. September 18, 2008 I lost my Aunt to breast Cancer (my mother sister) and this really broke me down. My Aunt kept this disease hidden from me and my whole family. The day we founded out she was suffering from breast cancer was the day before she died when she was in hospice. The same year I found out my other aunt was fighting the same disease the same year her sister died. This disease has affected my whole family and I made a promise as long as I am living to educate and research healthy ways to be proactive in getting check ups and test done to be aware. This has affected me so much that I want to help raise money to find a cure for this disease other than chemo therapy. I want to get more support groups to cater to families that are going through this with their loved ones. I want to raise money for survivors who had to pay for treatment and are behind on their bills and need help. I also want to raise money for people who don't have healthcare but have breast cancer and need assistance with getting the proper treatment. I am very passionate about this and I am putting together events for this purpose as well to raise money.
