About this campaign

SouthBARK needs your help paying for heartworm treatment for several of our current rescue dogs. Unfortunately, we live in the south where the mosquitos are plentiful and that is how heartworms are transmitted! A large percentage of the dogs we pull from high kill shelters are heartworm positive. All money raised with go directly to the dogs.

SouthBARK is a non-profit, grassroots all-breed animal rescue which saves, rehabilitates and rehomes animals from high-kill shelters in Lower Alabama, Northwest Florida, and Southeast Mississippi. Our goal is to decrease the total number of healthy dogs being killed each year in our shelters by providing safe and caring homes for them.
We are a 100% volunteer run organizationand every penny we raise goes directly to the dogs we save. SouthBARK relies completely on donations from the public.
We do not have a facility. All of our dogs are kept in loving foster homes where they receive the medical care and affection they require until a “forever home” is found.
SouthBARK has a diverse base of volunteers and we welcome help in any form – from driving a dog to the vet to cross posting a shelter dog’s picture. While our dogs are fostered in the South, we have volunteers and board members as far away as California and Canada. We believe that anyone can, and should, take part in animal rescue. Together, we can “Move ‘Em Out!”

SouthBARK needs your help paying for heartworm treatment for several of our current rescue dogs. Unfortunately, we live in the south where the mosquitos are plentiful and that is how heartworms are transmitted. A large percentage of the dogs we pull from high kill shelters are heartworm positive. They have to be fully recovered from heartworm treatment before they are able to be adopted. It is an expensive treatment, but SouthBARK is committed to providing the care each dog needs. All proceeds will go directly to the care of our rescue dogs.
