Helping imperiled and victimized horses: Within weeks of losing her freedom, her family, her home, and then, narrowly escaping slaughter, Guapa a wild Mustang gave birth to her baby daughter, Preciosa. We were able save Guapa, her baby and her family - And, reunite and shelter them at our Mustang recovery center. Katzman is a senior wild American Mustang stallion. He is one of the 45 rare and nearly extinct Spanish Mustangs who was saved under Wild For Life Foundation's Monero Rescue Mission after losing their Native range-land home and narrowly escaping slaughter. Katzman arrived extremely malnourished and in immediate need of veterinary medical care. He had been unable to gain needed weight due to a complicated dental condition, he also had a serious eye condition, plus his hooves were overgrown after being confined to holding pens for several months. WFLF placed Katzman on a special nutritional regimen to address his dietary deficiencies. Katzman also received urgently needed veterinary medical care for his teeth so that he can benefit from the high quality feed and hay he is receiving at WFLF’s Mustang recovery center. Katzman’s hoof condition demanded immediate attention to avoid muscle skeletal disorders, hoof abscesses and other compounded ailments that could have led to life threatening situations for him. Caring for truly Wild Mustangs requires hands-on handling by experienced & trained experts, special equipment, and the utilization of special sedation which must be administered by a licensed veterinary medical doctor so that these powerful animals can be handled safely and receive treatment without causing added stress or injury. Providing this kind of quality care to wild Mustangs is costly, and at Wild For Life Foundation (WFLF) rescue is just the beginning of a long dedicated journey to assuring peaceful and healthy lives for these victimized horses. Morning StarGlow is one of the littlest out of 21 Orphan Navajo foals rescued by the Wild For Life Foundation after losing her mother to slaughter at just weeks old.
Little StarGlow’s rescue and recovery began with her needing to be admitted into the hospital for 17 days where she fought for her life. The high speed chase of the U.S. government funded roundup, combined with the loss of her Mother at such a young age was more than her delicate body could bear. She was traumatized by her injuries and had begun to shut down.
Like many rescued foals coming in after experiencing life threatening trauma, StarGlow has needed to remain under special care to fully heal both emotionally and physically. Deprived of their Mother's milk to nourish and protect them, it can take upwards to a year to fully restore their delicate systems and build their immunity and strength.

The cost for milk-replacer feed and supplements is very high. For example, just one container of foal-milk runs $90. Our costs for veterinary care and hospitalization have added up into the thousands for these precious babies. Getting through the initial hurdle of the rescue for each of these animals is just the beginning of a long dedicated journey to restoring their health and assuring them with peaceful healthy lives.
