About this campaign

Deirdre & Lily need your help! The state of NY has pretty much condemned them to death, saying I have to banish, "euthanize," or surrender Deirdre and simply "euthanize" or surrender Lily to them to kill. Lily is blind and will probably not make it anywhere but the home she has become accustomed to. Deirdre has never been wild and has never developed the survival skills she needs to live in the wild. Your purchase of a tee shirt will both raise awareness of their situation and donate about $11 to our cause.

Eight years ago I became a wildlife rehabilitator to care for animals that needed help. Now I have two precious deer that won't be able to survive on their own. They are well cared for on my 12 acre horse farm, but the New York Department of Environmental Conservation is demanding they be killed! I need to take a stand against the state of New York and have them grant me the license I need to keep Lily and Deirdre, which they denied for no cogent reason, and instead simply chastised me for keeping Deirdre so long and demanded that I banish her from my property (no food, water, or shelter), euthanize her, or surrender her -- all choices that will certainly result in her death. For Lily, the blind doe, they gave no other choice but death. Can you help me?

I've been licensed to rehabilitate wildlife since 2007, and I've cared for animals that I have joyfullly re-released to the wild, and sadly, animals I couldn't save, or had to be euthanized. These two, however, are different. Dierdre came to me when her mother was hit by a car, and she was just a few days old. The intense level of care required to save her meant that she 'imprinted' on me, and sees me as her caregiver. Lily is younger, and came to me because she is blind, and unable to survive on her own in the wild.

Both does are happy, healthy, and live a comfortable life on my horse farm. I am trained as an educator, and both animals help me to teach people about wildlife and their needs. Deirdre has been helping me educate the public for 5 years now.

I obtained my license to help save wildlife, not kill them! This hard-hearted decision by the Department of Environmental Conservation is putting policy before the humane care of wildlife. Please help fund my legal battle urging NYSDEC to allow me to continue caring for Deirdre and Lily.

Please help me fight for the lives of my blind deer and her companion!

The state has absolutely no reason to kill these animals other than to assert it's authority for its own sake. They are under the care of a licensed provider, provide an educational opportunity as well as inspiration for the disabled.

I'm a animal lover and these 2 beautiful does have the right to live. I don't think the govt has the right to decide who has the right to live and die. These animals are gods creatures and have every right to be where they are ....happy and loved.

Every innocent animal deserves a chance for a happy life and these two are being so well cared for. Why should they die?
