relay for life of mem

I'm selling shirts to raise money for relay for life. I'm trying to help find a cure for cancer. Also, I'm relaying for the ones i love, lost their battle with cancer and still living. Feel free to pass the word on to family and friends.

Here is why I’m doing relay for life and fundraising through t-shirts.
We all know someone whose life has been touched by cancer and I was a caregiver to a cancer patient (my dad). For me personally, I know a few people who have had cancer and have cancer right now. They're all related to me. As you may or may not know, cancer is ranked #2 in the leading cause of death behind heart disease. Within cancer, skin cancer is ranked #1 and Breast cancer is ranked #4. Skin cancer is divided into the non-melanoma and melanoma categories. Non-melanoma is the more common form of cancer, while melanoma is the more serious type of cancer.

In 2000, my dad got skin cancer. Little did we know, it was going to be melanoma. However, his cancer went on and off for the next four years and at the end of 2004, he passed away. Another occurrence happened when my aunt found a lump on the side of her breast the Friday after thanksgiving, 2005. The following week, she had a biopsy and later on in December, she had the lymph glands removed under her arm. After Christmas, she had her first chemo treatment. Aunt Twyla had four rounds of chemo, three weeks apart. After this, she had surgery to remove the lump and in April, 2006, she started radiation. She said that the toughest days other than the day she lost her hair came after everything was over. However, her cancer was hormone receptor positive which meant that she had to take medicine to prevent making certain hormones for five years. April, 2016, marks 10 years that she will be in remission and I’m glad she is still with us. Another instance was my grandmother (paternal grandmother). She had ovarian cancer and when my dad was 12 years old, she passed away from cancer. Right now, my other aunt (step-dad’s sister in law), has breasts cancer. It has moved to her lower back and cervix. She recently started chemo therapy and this is her 2nd time having cancer.

When you get a chance please, think about buying a t-shirt. Again the website is www.booster.com/relay-for-life-of-mem

Ashley
