Growing up in Boston, Rachel Platten recalls harmonizing with her family to finely crafted pop songs – from Sam Cooke to The Beatles – that dominated her parents’ vinyl collection. As a teenager, Rachel was inspired by hip-hop and female singer-songwriters such as Tori Amos and Patti Griffin. She first discovered her true calling when she first appeared on stage at the International Soca Monarch Finals where she performed in front of over 80,000 people.

Over the next decade, the groundwork for her Columbia Records single debut, “Fight Song,” would be laid out as she paid her dues through a mix of temping during the day, performing until 4am, and lugging an 80-pound keyboard to her fifth floor walk-up night after night. “Fight Song,” an uplifting anthem that perfectly embodies Rachel’s own vulnerability and power, shares the feelings Rachel felt during this period of struggle and setbacks.

Currently, Rachel is planning her major label debut and is touring the U.S. with Andy Grammer. When asked what she wants people to take away from her music, she replies with, “I’m in love with the idea of connecting people. Bringing people together is to me, the most important thing we can do in this life. I feel like that’s my mission with my music. I think that’s why I’m getting this chance right now.”
