About this campaign

The money raised through the sale of these shirts will go towards helping potcakes in the Bahamas by providing funds for the Abaco Shelter (AKA Pop's Place) and the Royal Potcake Rescue (www.potcake.org). With the money raised, we can: help to feed puppies in the shelters that are found daily in the Bahamas, fund transport for the puppies out of the islands and into the United States and Canada for adoption and we can fund spay and neuter clinics for wild Potcakes in the Bahamas.

I grew up visiting Abaco, Bahamas with my family, and my grandmother in Florida had an incredible Potcake from there when I was little, so I sort of knew what they were. But it wasn't until the last few years when we began to help with the transport of puppies from the islands to the States that I got involved with the rescue. Potcakes are some incredible, loyal and smart dogs. They are lovable and silly and mischievous and they are gorgeous, great listeners who make a lovely addition to anyone's life. The name Potcake comes from the word for the leftovers in the dinner pan that was cast into the backyard and eaten by hungry, stray dogs in the Caribbean. Today, there are thousands of these strays, and they need our help.

With so many of stray dogs on each island (on Nassau there is an official estimate of 6-8,000), wild Potcakes in the Bahamas are becoming a serious problem. An THAT is where you come in! With the money we raise, we will fund spaying, neutering, transportation funds to the States and Canada for adoption and food for the strays at the shelters.

Last summer, after accidentally falling in love with a five week old ball of clumsy fur, I adopted Mango Potcake from the island of Great Abaco. And this month, he is turning 1! Like all Potcakes, he is amazing and I wanted to do something to give back to the Potcake rescuers, foster families and adopters so that together, we can promote our love of Potcakes and get more of them adopted out to lucky new homes!

It is my hope that through the sale of 50 of these shirts, we can raise a little over $500 to help these dogs, help ourselves and promote adoption. It doesn't happen unless we step up. And I know we can.
Thanks in advance. Tell everyone.
Love, Hannah and Mango. 998098_1413908235499735_2045754122_njpg
