About this campaign

As we continue to move forward in protecting the Portland Bight Area of Jamaica, it has become clear the the Government of Jamaica has given very little information to the public on the full extent of the proposed development and how that would negatively impact the over 40,000 people in the area. http://www.noportongoatisland.com/http://

Last Sept. 2013 We started our campaign to save the Portland Bight Protected Area from a massive transshipping enclave proposed to be developed in Jamaica's largest & most diverse ecological hot-spots. Of such importance the United Nation saw fit to grant the PBPA Biosphere Reserve Status in Nov. 3013.

In Oct. 2013 the United Nations as well as the IUCN sent open letters urging the Government of Jamaica to relocate the transshipping project in another area. Both the UN and IUCN offered assistance in helping the GOJ to do so. To date those offers have been refused.

Our campaign relies on all the information getting to the people in Jamaica. By and large the newspapers as well as radio & television have not challenged the project and are being spoon fed only what has been perceived as the positive aspects of what this project would be. There has been no other mention by the government to even look at the biosphere reserve as positive & sustainable for all of the people of Jamaica.

At that time the Government of Jamaica asked for a deferral of the application citing a need to revisit the boundary lines of the protected area. This having already had been signed off on the boundaries and submitted to the UN application. A process that took over 10 years to complete and millions of dollars of money and manpower to conduction the studies necessary for the UN Biosphere Reserve Application.

We urge you to buy a tee Shirt and make a donation so that we can keep doing our work. Monthly expense that are reoccurring are our on line radio show, our web page, and other information that is being put together to do mass mailings of mixed media to help get the correct information into the hands of Jamaicans, so that they make an informed choice in the matter. We must not allow for this project to move along unchallenged and we need you in order to do that.

Please help us to help the people of Jamaica.

the Peralto JADE Foundation is a non-profit NGO, Lic in the USA out of the state of Florida with the sole intent of making the lives for Jamaicans better through Action, Dialogue, and Education.

We strongly believe that Jamaica can have both the Hub and the Biosphere Reserve and prosper. The hub needs to be located into a less sensitive ecological system.

We are asking your support once again to help us help the people of Jamaica. Buy a tee shirt, one for yourself and maybe one as a gift. Or simply make a donation. Every little bit counts.
