Jordan's Journey

Jordan Thomas was an extraordinary ten-year-old boy whose hard-fought battle against cancer ended this past Tuesday. After undergoing multiple surgeries to remove a tumor from his leg, Jordan joined a program designed to introduce kids recovering from cancer into the sport of triathlon. Jordan’s undeniable will was clear. In order to get him through training, he used the fighting spirit that he had developed during his battle with cancer to create an alter ego.. Mr. Lightning! When Jordan trained, Mr. Lightning is who he became. Every week Jordan’s leg would get stronger. It was clear that he was sometimes in pain, but he never faltered. He enjoyed and embraced the fact that he was able to run at all.  This "alter-ego" became a permanent part of Jordan's being, and when his cancer came back, he and Mr. Lightning prepared to fight as one. 

Over the next several months Jordan's cancer spread, but he never stopped fighting. He never lost that electrifying smile that was so bright it gave the sun a run for it's money. His life on Earth came to a heartbreaking end, but his spirit lives on as Mr. Lightning now watches over the world.
