About this campaign
The Mobile Art Program has been helping seniors and adults with disabilities in Austin, Texas cope with depression and loneliness since August 2007. The process of creating art can reduce anxiety, allay fears, combat isolation and most importantly, help people who are often viewed as representatives of their age and/or disease, rather than the unique individuals they are.
We are mobile for those who are not: our artists and volunteers visit nursing homes,
Alzheimer respite programs and adult day centers to engage seniors and adults
with disabilities in art projects. When words fail, a work of art can tell as
story, express an emotion, recreate a memory and restore slf-esteem.
