Hand in Hand - Anything is Possible - Beat SMA for MJ's Van

More about Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA): SMA is the #1 genetic killer of children under the age of 2. One out of 40 people, most unknowingly, carry the gene that causes SMA. SMA does not discriminate and can affect anyone of any gender, race, religion, or age. There is NO CURE, however, with funding for research, SMA is the most likely genetic disease to be cured in the next 2-4 years. A cure might not restore lost functions, but will, hopefully,stop further progression.

MJ has beaten the odds and is now a vibrant and joy-filled 26 year old. Her current vehicle is more than 15 years old and has been unreliable, with flat tires, heating and cooling issues, brake problems, and more for a few years now. The vehicle has made it difficult, even dangerous, for MJ and her caregiver, Brenda,to travel to doctors appointments, hospital stays, and even to go more than a few minutes from home since the vehicle is so old and unpredictable. One of MJ's favorite summer activities is traveling to other states to visit friends and family. Unfortunately, she has been unable to travel farther than1 hour from her grandmother's home in the last 2 and a half years due to the vehicle issues. She is essentially stuck in place, because of necessary medical care being locatedmore than 10 hours from her home,and hasn't been able to see more than half of her immediate family in over a year. Please help MJ return to her love of travel and be reunited with friends and family while raising awareness about SMA.
