Amy's Medical Saga

Done with cancer... should be good... not necessarily. Surviving can come at a cost.

Since the end of treatment I have been diagnosed with Lymphedema (from lumpectomy/radiation), Neuropathy (from chemo), Fibromyalgia (from chemo), Arthritis (from chemo), & on Cancer Hormone Therapy (10 year plan to try to avoid cancer again). Each one of these is challenging, but all of them together is often overwhelming. I have gone through about every exam, test, or scan known to doctors. 

I have multiple specialists (lost count) not communicating with each other properly. Since I am not getting any answers locally, I am going to Vanderbilt to have a cancer surviorship doctor/specialist examine all my records and me. 

Cancer has been so difficult both physically and financially. I am already up-to-my eyeballs in medical bills from my cancer treatment (it was definitely expensive). Plus, my prescriptions for all those new diagnoses run from $500-$1000 a month. A month!

To get a comprehensive second opinion, I need to go to Vanderbilt, which is out-of-network and very expensive - $6,000 or more. I am trying to raise money to go towards that medical cost. The money from the purchase of a shirt(s) will go towards medical expenses.

If for any reason Vandy is magically less or I somehow raise more money then the costs, I will apply the money towards my current medical bills since my cancer diagnosis in 2013.
