About this campaign

As a single mother of 4 children, my sister was brutally attacked by her ex-husband and mother-in-law. She was left laying on the asphalt while her children screamed for help. The local law enforcement did not arrest these people. Help us fight this battle and seek justice for my sister and her girls!

1193384_13963748356547_multijpegThis is what happened to my sister on 3/28/14: A previous MS Union County resident. My sister moved to Memphis in order to get away from her abusive ex-husband. During a custody exchange in their designated public meeting spot in Holly Springs, MS she was brutally attacked by her ex-husband and mother-law. Kellie had arrived on time, her ex-husband was 30 mins late. Prior to arriving he sent the following text message: "I hope you choke, Mabe get gang banged by some up there." When he pulled up he barely got into his parking spot before jumping out of the van. With fists raised he went straight to her car. He instantly grabbed her phone and broke it. Grabbed her by the neck and drug her to the front of the vehicle. His mother at the same time went to Kellie's vehicle and told all the girls to get in her van. She managed to get 2 of the younger girls before Kellie managed to get away from her ex-husband. Her 2 older girls were fighting back telling them they were not getting out of the vehicle. Her ex-husband took Kellie in to a choke hold and told her if she did not shut up he would kill her. Kellie blacked out at that point and remembers opening her eyes and running to the van and attempting to retrieve her younger 2 girls. His mother took Kellie by the hair and started hitting her. Her ex-husband grabbed the other side of her hair and was doing the same. Please note all this took place on top of her younger little girl. His mother savagely scratched Kellie's face with nails repeatedly. Kellie attempted to break loose by hitting them. At this point her ex put the vehicle in reverse with her still half way inside and took off before the police could arrive. Kellie fell to the asphalt and her older girls were screaming for help. It must be said this took place in a McDonald's parking lot and the police were called 22-23 times during this event by several witnesses.

The reason we tell this story is to not only spread awareness of abuse, but also Holly Springs police did not arrest them nor did they take statements from witnesses, get witness information or take pictures. My sister was told she would have a court date to settle this weeks away. If they had ran this mans record they would have seen he is a repeat offender against my sister. He was also allowed to keep the 2 children they were able to snatch up before dashing out.

He could of easily killed her that evening, ran over or anything. He also could of come to Memphis and killed her. My sister stayed at my house so we could care for her and keep her safe. I do not see how this is justice. While this man and his mother continue to be FREE in New Albany and Blue Springs, my sister is left with this damage. How is it we are told to call the police for help yet they do nothing but send this abuser and his mother home? We will continue to fight for my sisters rights. She is a survivor and lucky to be alive. How can our justice system let these evil people go free? She could of been killed and the police simply told these perpetrators to go home. I want these monsters to know they cannot hide. Abuse in any form cannot be tolerated and no one is above the law. This was not a SIMPLE ASSAULT or DOMESTIC ASSAULT, this was a premeditated attack on my sister that could of led to her death and not to mention this was child endangerment. If the text messages she received from him moments before he arrived isn't alarming enough, possibly the photos of the damage could assist in realizing these people are monsters.
