About this campaign
I need your help in making my graduate school research possible. By purchasing a t-shirt, you are helping me get one step closer to graduating! I am doing both stable isotope and next-generation sequencing genetic techniques to better our understanding of the arthropods of our Hawaiian wet forest. The t-shirt features my study subject, Blackburnia hawaiiensis, as well as three other native Hawaiian beetles. They are featured walking through a cross walk on "Saddle Road". Much like the native forest of Hawaii,Hapuu understory as well as Ohia Lehua canopy are featured.
Kylle Roy started graduated school in the fall of 2013 at the University of Hawaii at Hilo's Tropical Conservation Biology and Environmental Science program. She studies B. hawaiiensis, a Hawaii Island endemic carabid beetle. She is interested in their diet, using metagenomic and stable isotope techniques in hopes to reveal them as one of the top predators in the Hawaiian arthropod food chain. This project is very costly and she can use your support to help finish her project.
