About this campaign

Loki is a rescued Siberian Husky 'mix' battling a serious, persistent upper respiratory infection and we have run out of resources to fight it, so this Booster campaign is intended to help fund his medical needs while celebrating the hard work of animal 'savers' everywhere.

You can follow his progress on facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Loki-Fenris-Lokimonster/458572254184462

Want to know Loki's story?
Loki is a rescued 6yo Siberian Husky 'mix' that suffered a sudden, severe pneumothorax and nearly died on June 23, 2014. He battled his way until we could get him into Capital Veterinary Specialists in Tallahassee, FL where he had life-saving surgery on July 1, 2014. The costs were astronomical, but he was otherwise healthy and has fought with his entire spirit to get healed.

His primary care provider is Saint Francis Animal Hospital. They are a not-for-profit facility located in Jacksonville, FL and they have been instrumental in Loki's treatment. They provide affordable veterinary care and do more great stuff for the community than can be typed in a small space. Please do check them out and make a tax-free donation to them if you can.

Where did he come from?
Loki was rescued from a swamp in Jacksonville, FL during late September 2009. He had been ‘outdoors’ for some time and was pitifully thin with missing undercoat, full of hookworms, and flies had eaten the tips off his ears. Wild but gentle and sweet, it took three days of visiting him to gain his confidence for loading into the car. As time went by, I learned that some woman paid a chunk of money for an ‘exotic’ pet only to chain him up in backyard after not learning how to handle him – so he chewed through the chain and made it to the swamp where I found him denning under a retiree’s back deck during hot daytime hours.

He has come so far it defies description or categorization, and getting to watch the transformation firsthand has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life.

We may never know exactly what he is and I don’t care. He’s an amazing creature that I share an incredible bond with and I’m grateful for any help he receives.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Chris Carter

All 3 of our pack members are 'special needs' rescues with varying issues. They had all been given up on and abandoned (Loki and the late Tiberius even came straight from the 'great outdoors'), yet they have become one wonderful family with lots of love, care, and perseverance. Our animals are well cared for and happy, but Loki's recent emergency took far more resources than we had available on our own. I am happy to publicly share receipts if anyone would like to see where Loki's funds go.
