I Matter Project

The City of Durham like many cities across the country is in a desperate need of alternatives to the school to prison pipeline; our plan is to train and equip young people who are motivated to find options that will lead them securely in a different direction.
I have had the chance to work with young people from every zip code in the city of Durham for twenty years. I have seen so many youth thirsting for promising opportunities and needing a second chance, but ultimately failing for lack of someone to believe in them.  The I Matter Project is an opportunity pipeline for young entrepreneurs to identify and utilize  their natural skills, talents, and ability.  The project will introduce new paths and pave the course for young people  to plan and to achieve business success.
The goal is to provide the skills, character, and leadership qualities needed to open doors for young people  to become self-sustainable, and to ultimately become an assest to their communities.  The I Matter Project will serve as a social enterprise hub for young entrepreneurs to develop critical and innovative thinking skills, strategic planning methods, and the confidence needed to implement their plans.
The I Matter Project serves as a pilot project for launching the New Horizons School of Business & Design - a new learning concept that will embrace entrepreneurship at the heart of its' curriculum.
