On May 11, 2015 I will depart for Guatemala City, Guatemala
for six weeks to attend Global Training School. GTS is administered by my
church in Fayetteville, New Heights Christian Ministries, and is a program with
the express purpose of training serious potential long-term global workers in
an international setting. I am very excited to be offered the opportunity to
join this team, along with seven other college students, to learn different
approaches to sharing the gospel internationally.
For those who have been walking with me
throughout the past few years of my life, you know that the Lord has weighed
Guatemala heavily on my heart. Knowing very little about the country itself, or
the work that needed to be done there, I made the decision to dedicate my
studies toward a path that would equip me to work internationally. After nearly
two years of studying Spanish and praying for this country that my heart longed
for, I finally have the opportunity to go. While there, I'll be spending my
time working alongside established missionaries including, Anita Lietzke (Hogar
Mamá Carmen), the Owen Family, and local Guatemalan organizations. In partnering
with these ministries our work will include teaching English, discipling
orphans, learning business as missions, and serving the homeless.
With this extraordinary opportunity there comes a
considerable need for support: spiritually and financially. I would like to
invite you to join me in prayer for the next five months as our team prepares
to depart. Please pray for spiritual unity in our team, for our safety while
abroad, and for our time spent in Guatemala: that it would be fruitful,
purposeful, and productive. Prayers for the people we encounter, the
friendships that we develop, and that the Spirit would lead us to places
outside of familiarity. I also reiterate the request made by the Apostle Paul,
Silas and Timothy, "pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread
rapidly and be honored just as it was with you. And pray that we may be
delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith." (2
Thessalonians 3:1-2)
Lastly,
please pray that I meet my financial goal. The trip requires $3,800, which
covers airfare, transportation, food, and medicine. I plan to pay for the trip
in increments; however, I must have $800 by February in order to secure my
airline ticket. If you would like to be
a part of what I will be doing in Guatemala, please consider partnering with me
through financial support of any amount.
I
am excited about this opportunity and the experiences that lie ahead. I hope
that you see the value in what we will accomplish. As always, prayers are the
best gift I could ever receive. While financial support is important, it comes
in a distant second to my need for your prayer support. Prayer is the fuel that
will allow us to be successful as we follow God’s direction in ministry. Thank
you for your friendship and support along my journey. Your prayer and financial
support has blessed me beyond belief. It is truly an honor to serve as the
hands and feet for the God of the Universe.I can't begin to describe the joy
I have received by having this incredible opportunity.
Thanks
for all your love and support,
