Finish Melissa's Walk will take place on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Madison Middle School, 4930 Lake Blvd., Oceanside, CA 92056.

Finish Melissa's Walk is named to honor the memory of Melissa Lopez, a Madison student who lost her battle with leukemia in May, 2015. Melissa's greatest wish was to be healthy enough to join her peers and walk at her promotion ceremony last June. Sadly, she passed away just days before this ceremony. Melissa needed a bone marrow transplant, but a donor match was never found. As Melissa's friends and teachers, we hop that byholding this walk-a-thon and registry drive, we will help raise critical funds for patients like Melissa in need of a marrow transplant, fund research, as well as add new potential marrow donors to the registry.

Our son Desmond is a 1st grader at Lake. He benefited from Be the Match in April 2014 when he received a bone marrow transplant for AML leukemia from a matched, unrelated donor. Prayers to Melissa's family. Thank you.
