Fight Like a Girl

Five months ago I underwent a lumpectomy on my right breast.  My nipple and all my milk ducts were removed.  While I was wallowing in my self pity, a very good friend shared with me that she was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer and would shortly be undergoing chemotherapy.  It was a wake up call.  Here I was feeling sorry for myself because of how I looked physically, and she had to fight for her life.  It put so many things into perspective for me.  From that day on I referred to her as my 'Booby Buddy'.  She is someone who knows exactly what I am going through, physically, mentally and emotionally.  Despite her fight, she has always been there to lift my spirits, and has the most AMAZING outlook on life.  I can never repay her for the love and support she has given me.

In April my Booby Buddy and I both undergo surgery.  I begin the first of my reconstructive surgeries and she will undergo her surgery with reconstruction followed by radiation.  I know first hand the out of pocket expense of my medical treatment, I can only imagine that it's a fraction of what she will incur.
