Connecticut
Greyhound Adoption, an affiliate of Greyhound Pets of America, Inc., is
a non-profit organization dedicated to finding homes for as many
retired racing Greyhounds
as possible and to educating the public on the suitability and
availability of Greyhounds as pets. Donations are always needed and are
tax-deductible. If you would like to volunteer or learn more about CGA

For
over 10 years, the all volunteer organization -- Connecticut Greyhound
Adoption (GPA) -- has been finding permanent, loving homes for retired
racing greyhounds. In total, we have placed
close to 1000 dogs into their forever homes.
We take in retired racing greyhounds from the Florida tracks paying for transportation to Connecticut to find their forever homes. So unfortunately, the race really never ends for these hounds until we find suitable caring homes for as many as we possibly can! This means we must arrange and pay for travel several hundred miles from the track to pick up the retired racers, spay and neuter them, provide shelter and food, heartworm and flea applications, shots and other medical care as needed. Our special needs hounds -- ones requiring surgery for career ending broken or fractured leg injuries -- can cost us from $1,500 to $2,000 dollars per dog for veterinary services.
We have to raise money in order to continue to find homes for these unbelievably loving and docile animals.
