About this campaign

JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes is an impactful way to raise money for Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) research.  With T1D there are no days off and no cure.  That's why JDRF holds more than 200 walks across the country every year to raise money for the foundation; the only global organization with a strategic research plan to end TID.  Combat kids has created two family teams to walk for a cure for diabetes.  We need your help!  We will be walking in Leesburg, VA on 5/18/14 and Washington DC on 6/1/14.  We have made our awesome team shirt available to you for just $20.  By purchasing our shirt, you can be a part of our team and part of the cure for T1D!

Combat Kids, is a support group established for military families who have a child with T1D.  It was started by two pediatric health care providers and mothers of diabetic daughters in 2013. The group is intended to provide support to families in the National Capital Region and families new to the area.  The group has invited speakers from the WRNMMC Pediatric Endocrinology Service and the JDRF local chapter for informational discussions on topics unique to diabetic patients and families.  Combat kids offers people a chance to meet and talk about the unexpected hurdle of diabetes and military life.  It allows parents dealing with diabetes to join together on this unfamiliar path, and to be guided by the knowledge of more experienced parents.  Diabetes is a manageable illness that does not have to be the cause of endless worries and obstacles.
