About this campaign

Chuck was diagnosed with a schwannoma tumor that if it is not removed, will be life threatening. His surgery is already scheduled for mid May. After just adding a new baby in February, the financial timing couldn't have been worse. He is already receiving bills that he simply cannot pay.

Chuck felt a lump on his neck and after showing it to his doctor one day, he soon began many trips for CT Scans, MRI's, specialists, a very painful biopsy and now a surgeon. A schwannoma is a Nerve Tumor that grows through/around certain types of nerves. While most schwannoma are in a place that can cause loss of function in that area, we thought his was in a good place. His main symptoms were neck pain and numbness and tingling in his arm. Turns out that this tumor has been pushing his jugular and carotid out of place for awhile. His carotid is currently kinked up by the base of his skull... The surgeon said that if it is not removed, he WILL have a stroke.. He estimated  6-12 months starting his"stroke danger zone". So he is trying to get it removed ASAP. There is also a chance that when his carotid becomes unkinked, plaque will rush up and cause a stroke.. As for the nerve it is attached to, well, he will have to sacrifice that nerve. It could be one of many- one could cause paralysis of half his tongue, one could forever change his breathing resulting in chronic bronchitis and other breathing issues, one could be in his shoulder limiting his range of motion and ability to lift which could affect his career... But the various nerves it could be are a small price to pay to save his life.
UPDATE
Please keep chuck in your prayers. The swallow test ended up with not great news. There is another lump inside his throat that they said looks lymphatic (whatever that means. dont think it means lymphoma) or it could be a palpoloma (not sure if that's spelled right) which is cancerous. It is being removed during his scheduled surgery then will be sent off for testing. Please pray this is the last thing they find and there isn't more hiding to be discovered later! Oh and this doctor said one of the nerves that could be affected is to his vocal cord.. So we are praying its not going to have to be sacrificed.
